About the Ultimate Password Generator
Create strong, random passwords or memorable passphrases in your browser. Choose the length, character sets and quantity, and copy or save the results.
How to use the Ultimate Password Generator
- Set the Password Length and Quantity.
- Choose a mode: Random for a random character string or Memorable for a passphrase made of words with a separator you pick.
- Select the Character Sets (uppercase, lowercase, numbers, symbols) and optionally Exclude Ambiguous characters such as i, l, 1, L, o and 0.
- Press Generate Now, then Copy All or Save All.
Formula and method
Strength depends on length and the size of the character set: combinations = (character set size)^length. A 16-character password using 94 possible characters has about 94ΒΉβΆ (roughly 10Β³ΒΉ) combinations. Random values come from your browser's cryptographically secure generator.
Tips
- Use at least 12 to 16 characters, and longer for important accounts.
- Use a different password for every account and store them in a password manager.
- Turn on two-factor authentication wherever it is offered.
- Never share a password by email or chat.
