About the Coordinate Geometry Calculator

Enter two points to find the distance between them, their midpoint and the slope of the line through them.

How to use the Coordinate Geometry Calculator

  1. Enter X1, Y1, X2 and Y2.
  2. Press Plot Points.

Formula and method

Distance: √((xβ‚‚ βˆ’ x₁)Β² + (yβ‚‚ βˆ’ y₁)Β²). Midpoint: ((x₁ + xβ‚‚) Γ· 2, (y₁ + yβ‚‚) Γ· 2). Slope: (yβ‚‚ βˆ’ y₁) Γ· (xβ‚‚ βˆ’ x₁).

Worked example

For (1, 2) and (4, 6): distance = 5, midpoint = (2.5, 4) and slope = 1.33.

Tips

  • A vertical line has an undefined slope.
