About the Add Line Breaks
Insert line breaks in a long piece of text every set number of characters or at word boundaries.
How to use the Add Line Breaks
- Paste your text into the box, click Sample for an example, or load a text file with File.
- Set Break at to the number of characters per line.
- Press Add Line Breaks.
- Use Copy or .TXT to save the result.
Worked example
A single 200-character line broken at 80 characters becomes three shorter lines.
Tips
- Use Break at word boundary to avoid splitting words in half.
Frequently Asked Questions
Around 60 to 80 characters is comfortable for reading and for plain-text email.
